        About Author

“My name is Joan Beard but I am using the author name of Christina Peterson. The author name is a combination of my Mother's middle name and my Grandmother's maiden name. I got the recipes from my Mother's very extensive file of recipes. Many of the recipes are form my Grandmother, Aunt Lucella, a friend Billie Coates and other family members and other friends.

My Grandmother homesteaded in South Dakota in 1908 She was a wonderful cook and baker. She pasted her love of preparing food to her daughers. She always had a huge garden on the farm. They canned not only the items from the garden but also meat. They made their own jellie and jams from the wild fruit.

I learned a lot from my Mother and grandmother by watching and listening.”
