Muscari armeniacum -

Commonly known as Grape Hyacinths, these are low maintenance, fast growing, fully hardy bulbous perennials (H6) that bloom in early Spring.  They are easy to grow little flowers and with just a little care will come back year after year.  No pruning is required, but you may want tidy away leaves as these die back in the summer.

Flowers: Many tiny (5mm) violet-blue, downward facing bells, trimmed with a white rim, loosely spiralling upward on a single stalk to form a cone in April.
Light Requirements: Full Sun, Part Shade
Soil Preference: Acid, Alkaline, Chalky, Clay, Fertile, Neutral, Sandy ie not fussy.
Ideal Position: Front of bed, edge of paths, containers, window boxes, fairy gardens
Growth Habit: fast-growing, naturalises easily so plan ahead or plant in pots and containers for your patio. Deciduous narrow, mid-green, arching leaves.
Growth Height: 15-20 cm
Growth Spread: 10 cm  (however, see habit)
Original Habitat: Eurasian
Quick Ref: Short
"The Genus name muscari comes from the Greek muschos, musk, referring to the scent."
"Muscari armeniacum is one of the most commonly cultivated species of Muscari, is robust and naturalises easily." Wiki
