Lychnis coronaria (Silene coronaria) SEEDS from Louise Ann’s allotment garden, in Kent, where she grows flowers for the bees and butterflies, and her creative pursuits.
The Latin coronaria means "used for garlands". Once you have grown your flowers, you could try this as a summer activity with your children, but leave some for the insects. The flowers can bloom from late June, through July, finishing up mid-August depending on the weather and your gardening care.
Lychnis coronaria has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit and attracts bees and other pollinators to your growing patch with nectar/pollen-rich flowers.
If you’d like to try these on your patch, please do your research from the professionals, as to whether this plant is suitable for your space, environment and growing conditions...
Grown in the U.K., naturally, without synthetic chemicals, using sidereal sun, moon, stars practices, and on land that has had a ‘no-chemical’ 2 year rest, before the mother plants were put in the ground.
Please don’t expect seed-supplier, professional packaging and info - These hobby grown, excess seeds - sifting the chaff by hand, in case anyone else, would like to grow as well . The seeds are, however, kept separate from different types another, and labeled by collection date.
Naturally pollinated flowers can have surprising offspring. it isn't guaranteed that you'll end up with flowers the same as the mother plant. on a plus, you may get an even more beautiful unique specimen, or two.
TOXICITY: Lychnis has no toxic effects reported but does contain the TOXIC glycoside saponin, which is only broken down with thorough cooking.
Because of the nature of this craft, please keep out of direct sunlight, or damp conditions, and away from strong electrical or magnetic appliances.
If you find yourself enjoying the result, of your ‘postage only’ priced seeds, you may want to share your appreciation by dropping a tip in Louise Ann's Linktree JAR
