A reference guide to the Solar Plexus Chakra (Maṇipūra) – the centre of personal power, will, and self-definition.
Maṇipūra - meaning city of jewels - is the third chakra and the seat of our personal power and identity. Located in the solar plexus, it is the sun within us -the radiant centre of will, confidence, and self-worth. Where the Root asks am I safe? and the Sacral asks am I alive?, the Solar Plexus asks who am I, and do I have the right to take up space?

▸ A Personal Reflection — The Solar Plexus Chakra Healed
For a long time I lived by other people’s scripts. What I should want. Who I should be. What I was allowed to take up space for. What activities I could or couldn't do.
The Solar Plexus work was quieter than I expected. Less about asserting myself and more about noticing - what do I actually think? What do I actually want? What am I carrying that was never mine to carry?
This is my aha insight: identity is the driver. Willpower doesn’t come from effort - it comes from knowing who we are. When we’re clear on that, decisions make themselves, no hesitation. When we’re not clear, no amount of discipline fills the gap, just hesitation, procrastination and circling thoughts.
Part of the lesson came from learning to look after my body after illness, not as a discipline, I tried that - it didn't work, but as a relationship. My body looks after me when I look after it. Choosing the foods I felt good from eating, not eating to suit others. Choosing activities that feel right, rather than just going along with others. Making my own pace part of my day.
When our Solar Plexus is uncovered, our decisions are straightforward. Action then happens spontaneously.

► The Solar Plexus Chakra & the Five Elements
The Solar Plexus Chakra’s element is Fire, and it resonates strongly with the Fire Element in TCM – the element of the Heart, joy, and radiant expression. Its qualities of digestion, transformation, and decision-making also connect to the Wood Element – the energy of the Liver, planning, and the free flow of Qi.
► The Solar Plexus Chakra & the Schumann Resonance
The Solar Plexus is often the first chakra to register collective energetic shifts – that feeling of unease or butterflies in the stomach before you know why. During Schumann Resonance spikes driven by solar activity, the Solar Plexus may feel activated, anxious, or depleted. Grounding practices, time in sunlight, and Solar Plexus crystals can help restore a sense of centred personal power.

The Solar Plexus in the Full System
The Solar Plexus is the last of the three lower chakras – the ones concerned with our personal, earthly existence. Above it lies the Heart, the great bridge between the personal and the universal. The Solar Plexus gives us the strength and clarity of self needed to open the Heart without losing ourselves. A strong Solar Plexus is not about ego – it is about having enough of a self to genuinely give.
