Description

Inci: Oenothera Biennis Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annus Seed Oil

A moisturising oil high in GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and other essential fatty acids. This versatile oil is an emollient that hydrates and protects the skin.

Our organic evening primrose oil is a clear oil with a pale to golden yellow hue, extracted from the evening primrose flower and COSMOS Certified Organic. It has 0.5% vitamin E (tocopherol) added to reduce oxidation in storage – delivered via a small amount of sunflower seed oil to ensure a pourable consistency. This lightweight oil has a dry feel and is easily absorbed by the skin, making it ideal for non-greasy cosmetic products.

According to the Cosmetic Ingredient Database (CosIng), the functions of Evening Primrose Oil are: Emollient, Skin Conditioning.

Evening primrose has been revered for centuries in Native American traditions as a healing plant – its seeds, leaves and roots used for everything from bruises to skin complaints.

The plant blooms only after dark, opening its delicate yellow flowers as the sun sets, which is how it earned the name "evening primrose".

In modern herbalism and natural skincare, its oil is prized above all for its exceptional GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) content – a rare omega-6 fatty acid that the body uses to maintain healthy skin cell membranes, regulate inflammation and support hormonal balance.

It is one of nature's most generous gifts to sensitive, dry and mature skin.
